1998 marked the last year of the 911 air cooled. The 993.2 equipped with the VarioRam engine

The VarioRam system is a variable intake designed by Porsche that changes the length of the intake depending on the RPM.
At low RPM it uses longer path to improve Torque and in the high RPM it switches to shorter paths to boost horsepower.
The result is strong pulling power at low speeds while delivering high performance at top end , improving the drivability and power band usage.
