The Porsche 911 Turbo, introduced at the 1974 Paris Auto Show, was a landmark model that bridged Porsche's racing technology with street-legal performance. It achieved the FIA's requirements for homologation in Group 4 and Group 5 race categories. This necessitated a production car closely resembling the high-performance race models, leading Porsche to develop the Turbo variant for general sale.
Starting in 1973, Porsche engineers adapted the turbocharging technology from the 911 Turbo Carrera RSR 2.1 race car and the renowned 917/30 Can-Am car. The result was a road-legal version based on the Carrera RS 3.0, dubbed the 930 internally, featuring a 3.0 L flat-six turbocharged engine. The 911 Turbo received significant upgrades to support the increased power, including reinforced suspension, larger brakes, a robust gearbox, wider wheels and tires, and flared arches for added stability and grip. Adding the iconic whale tail rear spoiler, beyond its visual appeal, improved engine cooling and rear downforce, enhancing the car's stability at high speeds.
Gaudin Porsche of Las Vegas and Gaudin Classic are excited to present this 1978 Porsche 930. This model showcases a unique "Paint-to-Sample" Platinum Metallic exterior, complemented by a dark brown leather interior. The odometer reads just under 26,000 miles. Key features include an electric sunroof, a VDO mechanical boost gauge, a limited-slip differential, stainless steel exhaust, and RUF Speedline wheels.
