2024 Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge
Gaudin Porsche of Las Vegas is excited to announce the 2024 Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge candidate, a 1986 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa Turbo-Look with the rarely seen “non-spoiler” option. The car came to us from a local Las Vegas family who purchased the car in the year 2000. It was sold to them as a convertible turbo-look with a turbo spoiler. The Targa-to-Convertible top conversion utilized a genuine Porsche convertible top, making it so difficult to spot that the family was completely unaware of the secret this car was hiding.
Once we acquired the car, our team communicated with the Porsche Classic Vehicle Information Specialist and the M491 registry. Our 1986 911 Carrera Targa with option codes M491 and M470 was believed to be 1 of only 7 cars produced that year. With their help, we confirmed the car's unique options and limited production.
Progress Report:
February - We are thrilled to unveil our latest project at our Porsche Classic Partner event. Our Classic Certified technicians inspected the vehicle's overall physical and mechanical condition.
March - The team removed the convertible top and turbo-look rear spoiler. The interior was removed to show how the original targa bar was extracted from the body. The engine and transmission were also removed for further assessment.
April -The bumpers and lights were also removed for a thorough cleaning. The undercarriage was meticulously cleaned using the revolutionary dry ice treatment.
